Sunniva Abelli
Swedish Nyckelharpa player, singer and composer of contemporary folk music with roots in Nordic traditions. Also known for her poetic lyrics and dynamic, groovy playing and a unique personal style using feet, voice and dancing while playing the Nyckelharpa.
Presence, space, playfulness and rhythmic groove are strong elements in Abelli’s music. Born into folk music within a family full of artists, she has a rich knowledge of traditional music from the north and holds an artistic master’s degree in Nordic folk music. She has toured Scandinavia, Europe and Japan with various ensembles and solo.
Based in Stockholm, Sweden.
